Could you be Zendaya’s virtual family? She really does need a proper family of her own but until such time as she decides she is ready to be adopted, her home is with us.
Zendaya was rescued after being abandoned on a street in Ubud.
She is stunning. Breathtaking. So why is she not adopted?
Beautiful Zendaya is fearful. She has been at Villa Kitty for more than a year. Still she shrinks from our touch. but she no longer runs from us. She has her favourite basket in our ‘boarding’ section. This area houses our cats with disabilities, our paraplegic cats, three-legged cats and some of our family who have obviously suffered trauma.
Once Zendaya is safe in her basket we can sit beside her. She loves to ‘hide’ in her basket. The other cats understand it is Zendaya’s basket and no one else hops in there. Once Zendaya is settled, she accepts our gentle approach, stroking her head, and tickling under her chin. We know she is happy to receive our careful touch because she makes tiny noises when we stop. We start again, we stop, and again she says “don’t stop”. It’s a game we play to assure her she calls the shots.
No one knows why she is so fearful or where she came from, but we know that Zendaya will not be chosen for adoption. She hides from visitors. Most adopters are looking for kittens or cats who are bold and playful and keen to sit on your lap. Zendaya doesn’t fit into any of these categories.
