Could you be Evie virtual family? He really does need a proper family of his own but until such time as he decides he is ready to be adopted, his home is with us.
Evie Evie Evie let your hair hang down
You have to be a certain age to remember the Stevie Wright song Evie, but I bet some of you do. In all three parts!
Our Evie arrived at Villa Kitty on 1 August 2020. She was a tiny five week old baby, suffering nerve damage. She was housed in our special needs area and began an intense program of physio, acupuncture and electrode stimulation. No fractures or broken bones were detected so we thought she would learn to walk, but no. Evie is a paraplegic, along with Ginger Rogers, who arrived five days later.
Evie was danced to ‘her’ song and she loved it.
Evie knew she was loved and that this was her theme. She was blessed to develop a special bond with Ginger Rogers who became a caring big brother to her. We’re convinced he taught her to use her upper body strength to climb the wire doors and scoot about the floor, although he is much faster than Evie. Now the two of them clamber up the doors to the top level where their penthouse ledge, with its comfy cushions and water and food bowls, provides a haven. And you should see her with a scratching pole: she uses it as her gymnasium and puts her entire being into the workout!
Special needs cats need special care. They have to be toileted 3-4 times a day as they cannot use litter trays. They need to be stroked and cuddled individually to remind them they matter. Our night shift staff have worked this quality time into their schedules.
Evie will never find a home outside of Villa Kitty. Her care is our responsibility, forever, but this doesn’t mean you cannot show her love and compassion. You can virtually sponsor sweet Evie through our sponsorship program. Please, tell Evie that you care.
And then, if you know the words to the song, take her on a virtual dance. All together now - Evie Evie Evie let your hair hang down.
