We are in dire straits

Will you help us in this worrying time? We currently have exhausted all our resources to cover the vet bills of our sick kittens and cats, and are now left with no money to pay our dedicated staff.

We are in dire straits and urgently need your help!!

This is a crisis.

You know I don’t tend to use the word crisis lightly, but we are currently facing an extremely worrying situation and we desperately need your help.

Over the last few weeks, not one but two Balinese religious festivals have occurred incredibly close to each other, putting immense stress on our staff and on our ability to continue to receive cats and kittens in need. Galungan and Kuningan occur almost twice a year, just 10 days apart. But this year Nyepi, the day of silence, came just one day after Hari Raya Kuningan.

Since March 4th, 2024, 56 new kittens have come into our care. Most were brought to us as their rescuers were tourists and leaving the island and others were delivered to us via GoJek and Grab, without any notice.

This completely took us by surprise and our Nursery quickly filled up. During Nyepi, we were lucky to have kind people come forward to help foster nine of of our Nursery kittens, but the rest were left with us, a total of 32 kittens in the Nursery with ONE vet assistant. Our small contingent of 9 staff worked around the clock caring for the 521 cats and kittens and our 45 dogs and puppies, during the period of lockdown.

After Nyepi, the fostered kittens returned to Villa Kitty and our Nursery has never been so full!

Some of the 56 kittens who came into our care in the last two weeks also needed urgent medical treatment and since our hospital is over capacity we, once again, needed to ask the help of the Sunset Vet clinic.

Now, we have reached a crisis point. With so many kittens needing help, we have exhausted all our resources to cover medical bills. The end of the month is coming, and we do not have the funds to pay our dedicated staff. This is the first time in our 13-year history. Yes, Villa Kitty Foundation turned 13 on the 17th March. 2011-2024! There was no celebration as we struggled with the arrivals.

The fact is, we are understaffed and our work is incredibly vital and important as the only dedicated cat foundation in Bali. Today, I am asking you to please make a kind donation to help us pay our staff so we can continue to rescue and nurture our feline patients.

Your kind gift will ensure we can continue to receive kittens and cats in need and provide them with the medical and loving care they so desperately need. Please, make your kind donation today.

Thank you for your compassionate support during these challenging times.
